Yours, all yours

Yours, all yours

“I was wondering…” “I’m toying with an idea…” “Could you maybe…”

Those are some of my favorite words to hear in my work as a calligrapher and designer. It’s a lot of fun coming up with new ideas for jewelry on my own, but when a friend and customer asks me to personalize a piece to make it truly her (or his) own, that really flips the creativity switch to ON for me.

When I introduced our new Initial necklace a few days ago, my friend Meredith—who’s devoted to Crossfit and, just a few weeks ago, finished the Tough Mudder New England challenge—got in touch with me.

“I’m toying with an idea. I’m looking for an inspirational quote to remind me to keep moving, keep going. And I really can’t find the right one. With that, your M is beautiful. Is there a way to incorporate a mini barbell into or out of the beginning part of the M?”

And we were off. After a quick flurry of “How about this one?” and “Do you like the barbell here or here or here?”  we came up with a design she loves.

It’s so much fun to use an existing design as a jumping off point, and I love that she had a vision for how to truly personalize a piece for herself.

The result was a piece she loves. “Working with Jennifer was an easy and pleasant experience. She was able to decipher non technical terms like ‘coils’ and ‘doohickey’ with charm and grace. I love my custom necklace!”

Choose your initial, or find the perfect gift here: Initial necklace.

Also, I’ve added new quotes and design options to several of the necklaces. Take a look at these necklace designs: The Sea, Moon and Smoke, and The Unfinished Song.

You are the deep innerness of all things,

the last word that can never be spoken.
